In an effort to increase awareness of the growing need for certified wireless communications professionals, ETA has again partnered with International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) to award scholarships for one student and one Veteran to attend the co-located event this spring.

Education ForumGreencastle, January 25, 2018: ETA will host more hands-on training workshops and technical sessions from industry experts than ever before during Education Forum 2018, co-located with International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) March 5-9, 2018 in Orlando, FL. Invited to participate in this event free of charge is one outstanding student and one exceptional Veteran, to encourage them to enter the many exciting, lucrative and diverse careers in the wireless communications industry.

“ETA is honored to be a part of an event of this caliber.” said Teresa Maher, CSS, President, ETA International, “and this type of teamwork will continue to foster excellence in wireless communications professionals.”

ETA is proud to announce the student scholarship winner is Spencer Williamson, A&M Consolidated High School, College Station, TX. A cancer survivor, he said the entirety of patient care held under the umbrella of wireless communication amazes him.

“Now I constantly contemplate the aspects of Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and this fixation on the HIS as a core component of patient care has brought about changes in my academic career,” Williams said, adding, “I now take a telecommunications and networking class in high school to increase my understanding of wireless and wired communication.”

Williamson will have the opportunity to network with hundreds of industry manufacturers and solution providers, which will give him a distinct advantage over other candidates when he’s ready to enter the jobs market.

ETA is honored to proclaim this year’s Veteran scholarship recipient is Lukas C. Pinson, CETsr, Motorola Solutions Systems Technologist, Chandler, AZ. He said the scholarship will give him an opportunity to meet the most respected and influential people in the field of wireless communications. He has selected the Microwave Radio Technician training workshop, sponsored by Dover Telecommunications Services, as part of his scholarship package.

“The course will help me to become more familiar with the fundamentals of microwave communications, help me in my pursuit of becoming a wireless communications expert and set me apart from some of my colleagues,” he said.

An ETA Senior Certified Electronics Technician, Pinson has earned ETA certifications in basic electronics, wireless communications, antenna systems, radio frequency (RF) interference mitigation, and computer service. He has 16 years of combined experience in information technology and communications with the US Army, Department of Emergency and Military Affairs, and the Arizona National Guard.
